Sue Cobb worked at the New Brighton Community Gardens from its inception in 2005 until the end of 2008. She was the first paid worker on the project, and can be credited with most of the initiatives that saw the Gardens established.
From the beginning she had the vision of what could be done with the space which had been the Ladies Bowling Club. She worked hard and enthusiastically to make it happen, and quickly gathered a core group of willing volunteers to work at the gardens.
Sue also designed the garden, a design which is ideal for teaching purposes and crop rotations. She made multiple funding applications and has set the gardens up as a financially viable enterprise.
When a Gardener was employed to share the work, Sue remained as Manager, including responsibility for fundraising, publicity, and the organising of courses.
